This Privacy Policy describes how Deven Joshi ("we," "our," or "us") handles information in the Taalrijk mobile application. Taalrijk is a Dutch language learning app designed for A2+ learners. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

Information We Do NOT Collect

Taalrijk does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. This includes but is not limited to:

• Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
• Device information or identifiers
• Location data
• Usage analytics or learning statistics
• Crash reports or error logs
• Network activity or browsing history
• Contact lists or other device data
• Audio recordings from speech practice
• Photos, files, or media from your device

Local Data Storage

Taalrijk is designed with an offline-first approach and stores data locally on your device to provide learning functionality:

• Learning Content: Stories, conversations, comprehension exercises, and vocabulary stored locally in JSON files
• Learning Progress: Your progress through lessons, completed exercises, and personal scores
• Writing Practice: Your typed responses to writing prompts are saved locally on your device
• App Preferences: Settings like audio playback speed, display preferences, and other customizations

Important: All this data remains exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or any third parties. You can delete this data at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing the app's data through your device settings.

Speech and Audio Features

Taalrijk includes speech practice features that use your device's capabilities:

• Speech-to-Text: Used for pronunciation practice where you repeat Dutch phrases. Audio is processed by your device's built-in speech recognition system and is not recorded, stored, or transmitted.
• Text-to-Speech: Used to play audio for stories, conversations, and vocabulary. This uses your device's built-in text-to-speech engine.
• Audio Playback: Pre-recorded audio content is played using the Just Audio library and does not involve any data transmission.

These features operate entirely locally on your device. No audio data leaves your device.

Network Connectivity

Taalrijk is designed to work completely offline. The app only requires network connectivity for:

• Initial app download from the App Store or Google Play Store
• App updates (when available)
• Speech-to-Text functionality (which uses your device's built-in service)

No learning data, progress, or personal information is transmitted over the network during normal app usage.

Data Security

Since Taalrijk does not collect or store any user data on external servers, there is no risk of data breaches or unauthorized access to your personal information through our services. All learning functionality operates locally on your device using Flutter's secure local storage mechanisms.

Children's Privacy

Taalrijk does not collect any information from users of any age, including children under 13. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar international regulations by not collecting any personal information whatsoever.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy and releasing an app update. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
